Pemilihan Type Cat

Saat ini anda dapat memilih dari sekian banyak merk-merk cat & pernish yang beredar di pasaran. Ada 2 (dua) type cat & pernish yang perlu anda ketahui, yaitu :

- Polyurethane
- Acrylic Lacquer

Saat ini, Jenis Polyurethane Paint/Clear adalah pilihan Cat/Pernish yang paling populer. Cat/Pernish ini dapat bertahan sangat lama dan menghasilkan hasil akhir yang high gloss (mengkilat), selain itu cat/pernish polyurethane tahan terhadap bahan kimia (thinner) dan lebih tahan terhadap goresan/scratch body. Cat/Pernish Polyurethane memiliki kandungan bahan berkualitas tinggi dan proses pengeringannya tidak secepat cat/pernish acrylic, sehingga dapat menghasilkan permukaan cat/pernish yang rata dan hasil yang high gloss. Cat/Pernish Polyurethane lebih mudah diaplikasikan dan menggunakan thinner polyurethane extra slow.

Polyurethane paint is probably the most popular choice for a top coat today. It is verydurable and provides a high gloss finish. It is also chemically resistant. These paints have a high solid content and they cure very slowly which means they continue to flowout for a long period of time. Jenis Acrylic Lacquer Paint/Clear kalau bisa dihindari, karena walaupun lebih murah & proses repaint lebih cepat tetapi hasilnya tidak awet & cepat kusam; hanya dapat bertahan ± 6 bulan ~ 1 tahun; sehingga jika ada penawaran cat/pernish dengan harga murah, maka perlu cek material yang digunakannya. Cat/Pernish Acrylic Lacquer menggunakan thinner yang cepat kering seperti Thinner A atau ND. Cat jenis ini tidak tahan dengan bahan kimia/thinner dan kurang tahan terhadap goresan/scratch body.

A second type of top coat paint is acrylic lacquer. This paint has a low solid content that makes it more difficult to apply. Acrylic lacquer should be thinned using the proper thinner and then a verylight tack coat applied ........................
